From the ankle forward, this boot has a matte texture/look and the rubber toe cap makes for a tall top of the shoe.This boot has a very roomy toebox - even for someone with a wide foot - no need to size up for wide feet. The forefoot has great cushioning for walking and standing comfort - on balance, it is far more comfortable underfoot than any of my 6 pairs of Dr Martens.

The sole is quite flexible, which means it's comfortable, but not very supportive after a long day. For an overpronator or anyone who needs a firm sole, look elsewhere

They should just call it Black to avoid confusion. This boot takes a while to break in but with some good insoles they are fast becoming my favorite. Steel toe is wide enough and the leather over the toe cap is holding up so far.
